The Islamabad Traffic Police has launched the digital challan system in the capital. The new digital challan system will help violators to receive and pay challan easily by using their mobile phones. ITP officials will also use mobile phones to give challan to violators.
The officials will have a special application in their smartphones by which they will be able to issue challans on the go. On that application they will add the license number of the violator and in return will get all necessary details of the driver.
After the issuance of challan an SMS will be sent on the phone number of driver. Then the violator will be able to pay the challan on the spot by using digital payments using JCash application which will be provided by JSBank.
When violator will pay the challan, ITP officials will get a notification of payment and then they will handover the violator’s document immediately.
The new digital challan system will help to eliminate the need for violators to go to National Bank of Pakistan to pay the challan, it will also save their effort and time in paying challan fee.
But the question is, whether this system will help reduce violations in the capital or do just the opposite?
