Islamabad High Court Declares Suspension of Cellular Services illegal

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) declared that suspension of Cellular services is illegal on the name of ‘security issues’.

It is a normal thing that cellular services are suspended in different cities of Pakistan on sensitive events like Ashura, Eid Milad un Nabi and 23rd March’s Parade.

IHC judge Athar Minallah, announced the verdict on the petitions filed by telecom companies and a citizen, said that suspension of cellular services by authorities is illegal and tantamount to exceed from their authority.

However, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) cleared that it was the government which order for the suspension of cellular services.
