Indian skipper Virat Kohli continued his tremendous form in the current tour of South Africa. During the last ODI match he scored his career’s 35th century and created yet another world record by becoming the first batsman ever to score 500 runs in a bilateral ODI series. Kohli achieved the feat during the sixth and final ODI of the series when he reached on 71 with the help of cover drive boundary off Andile Phehlukwayo.

Virat kohli scored three centuries in this series and also the first by an Indian batsman in a bilateral series. Record breaker Virat kohli helps India beat South Africa by 8 wickets and clinched the six-match series 5-1.

Kohli’s whirlwind knock of 129 not out off 96 balls was consist of 19 fours and 2 sixes. Kohli was in superb form throughout the tournament, scoring a 112 not out in the first match and 160 not out in the third. In his all three centuries he also remained unbeaten.

For the biggest run haul in any bilateral ODI series Kohli surpassed his compatriot Rohit Sharma’s tally of 491 runs against Australia in 2013-14.George Bailey the former Australian captain is now on third in the list with 478 runs against India in 2013-14.

“I have got eight or nine years left in my career and I want to make the most of every day. It’s a blessing that I am healthy and getting to captain my country,” Kohli said these words at the post-match presentation ceremony.

Kohli attributed his this success to wife Anushka Sharma and said “People who are close to me deserve a lot of credit. My wife has kept me going throughout the tour. I am grateful for that. Obviously, you want to lead from the front, and that’s a wonderful feeling.”

The Indian skipper who had also been targeted with short deliveries in Test matches and also in the earlier part of this series, took the Proteas bowlers to task, hammering their short deliveries. At that time he showed his great batting skills and managed to get on top of the bounce and played them on the ground as all the South African bowlers, all hit-the-deck-kind, struggled to ruffle him.
